Dumfries & Galloway Small Communities Housing Trust

COMMUNITY HOUSING SURVEYS

The DGSCHT conducts housing surveys and surgeries at the request of Community Councils (or other similarly representative local bodies) to assess local housing needs, aspirations and views.

Surveys are questionnaire-based, providing a detailed view of the community as a whole. Housing surgeries would normally be held in the local community, following a survey by DGSCHT staff, to provide an opportunity for local people to get face-to -face advice on housing options and to give a more detailed picture of the type of need to the Trust, in order to enable it to ascertain the most appropriate housing solutions for that community. All information collected is treated with the utmost confidentiality.

With the help of the Shelter Housing Action with Rural Communities Project, over 20 housing surveys have been carried out within rural communities of Dumfries and Galloway and 2 larger areas studies have also been completed with the assistance of Craigforth Consultants.
