Community Owned Homes to Rent
Working together as a community owned and managed not-for-profit Development Trust properties to rent on a community specific allocation policy are built and managed to provide homes at an affordable cost. This course of action could operate at a scale below that regarded as viable for RSLs and the private sector but can also apply to larger proposals. Policies on the allocation of this kind of housing can be determined to suit local needs in consultation with the local Community Council.
Registered Social Landlords
If local housing need is sufficient to be considered viable by local housing associations (such as Loreburn, DGHP, Home Scotland, Irvine HA) the Trust could, if directed to do so by the community, approach such registered social landlords to explore the possibility of a new development.
Local housing needs can, in some circumstances, be acknowledged. The Trust can, if appropriate, act as advocate for a community in discussions with potential housing providers.
