Self Build Homes
Individuals, or a group of people working co-operatively, build their own homes. Some form of means testing would be required to focus on those unable to purchase or build their own house at market prices.
Innovative and alternative designs and forms of construction and some element of voluntary co-operative working could be utilised to keep costs to a minimum.
In some cases the Trust may be able to provide building plots at an affordable price subject to the Rural Housing Burden.
A Reduced Price Home from a Private Developer
Homes made available at a discounted price by a private developer where the discount amount is held by the Trust under the terms of their Rural Housing Burden.
Policies on the allocation of this kind of housing can be determined to suit local needs in consultation with the local Community Council.
